Humpback Whales And A Stroll Through Cambridge

Sunday, September 23

Another day where I slept through the alarm.

Igor and I were supposed to get up around 8 a.m., so we could make it to the Aquarium box office at 9 and buy whale watching tickets.

Instead, it was a matter of Igor waking me up at 9 ... followed by a mad dash downtown in Igor's car, which we picked up from the local Midas (after some significant exhaust repairs).

We somehow made it to the Aquarium for the 10 a.m. boat. A minor miracle.

It was a beautiful day and we had spectacular views of the whales. This was the best out of three trips I've taken w/Boston Harbor operators this year.

We had lunch @ Quincy Market and watched a bit of the Patriots-Bills game. Hard to believe that the Patriots were down 7-3 midway through the second quarter. They wound up taking a 17-7 halftime lead on our watch and then scored 21 additional points in the 2nd half. 38-7 Patriots ...

Igor wanted to see a bit of Cambridge so we drove to the Harvard campus and walked around the neighborhood. Just a nice afternoon stroll ... would've been nice to rent a kayak and head down river.

And now I'm home, attending to all the work I didn't manage to complete on Friday.

Saturday night was interesting. Wound up jamming with the neighbors for over an hour, soaking my dress shirt in the process. Even in my inebriated state, I was feeling pretty good about the sound. Plowed through a Dinosaur Jr.-like jam with a drummer I had just met, our neighbor Ted on bass, and a few people chipping in on guitar #2 (including Igor). I was playing a Tele with a healthy dose of delay. Occasionally using the floor pedal for distorted soloing.

I developed a new method for introducing myself to strangers last night. My name is now "Tide® with Bleach."
"What's your name?"
"Tide® with Bleach."
"That's not your name! I don't believe you ..."
"No, I'm serious. My parents were paid $20k to name me Tide® with Bleach. Have you met my friend Ajax?"

Actually, that bra is mine. I like to be in a loose, unrestrained state while I'm playing, so I make a point of taking it off first.
