Normally you'd be happy with a player who produces 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks and a 3. Except this same player shot 2 of 16 from the field, with 4 turnovers. Take a bow, Jeff Green ... you've managed to go 23 for 73 (.315) since joining my roster. Where's Rafer Alston when you need him?
In the meantime, Allen Iverson's "deep funk" - as Yahoo calls it - continues. 6 of 14, 2-6 on free throws (yeesh), only 14 pts, 1 rebound, 2 assists. At least he contributed 3 steals.
Dwight Howard had a nice night with 25 pts (albeit on 8 of 18 shooting), 20 rebounds, and 3 blocks. However, he also turned the ball over 6 times. This has been a recurring theme with my team lately -- an awful FG%, an even more dreadful FT% than I'm used to (we're now in dead last at .759), and tons of turnovers. The team FG% still stands at .468 (good for 9 points in our league, 4th place), but it should be better than that.
Al Jefferson provided his typically steady output, with 22 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals, and a block. Only one turnover too.
Parker didn't play much as the Spurs were blown out (12 pts, 6 assists), so I'm not too concerned. Sebastian Telfair was once again a turnover machine (4) and provided barely adequate production for a 9th man -- 13 pts, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 1 steal, two 3s. In three starts, Telfair has produced 39 points (13 ppg), 15 assists (5 apg), 7 rebounds (2.3 reb.), 2 steals, five 3s, and a whopping 14 turnovers (close to 5 per game). He's 14 of 32 (.4375) from the field -- that actually sounds good the way this team is shooting.
Here's the rundown of how trade acquisitions are performing -- I'll be evaluating the frontcourt players today (Marion, Green) and the backcourt players (Rondo, Iverson) tomorrow:
Jeff Green (5 GP) -- 72 points (14.4), 50 rebounds (10), 6 assists (1.2), 15 turnovers (3), 3 steals (0.6), 5 blocks (1), five 3s (1), 23-73 FGs (.315), 21-23 FTs (.913)
He really doesn't pass much more than this. I'd expect scoring in the 16-17 range at the very least, the rebounds will drop to about 7 per game, and his shooting percentage will improve.
Shawn Marion (5 GP) -- 75 points (15), 49 rebounds (9.8), 10 assists (2), 2 turnovers (0.4), 9 steals (1.8), 3 blocks (0.6), 31-59 FGs (.525), 12-13 FTs (.923)
Very pleased. The question is now whether I try to trade him. Will Toronto be a better situation for Marion? Would he even start there? I'm assuming so, but you never know. People are hyping this Jermaine O'Neal-Marion deal, but I can't see what the Heat get out of it. It would take them out of the Boozer sweepstakes, but some insist that Riley has his eyes set on 2010 only and the possibility of a Wade-Bosh pairing. If that's the case, taking on O'Neal is a possibility. As a fantasy team owner, trades always make you nervous -- hell, look at what it's done to Allen Iverson's value.
