Ray Allen makes me eat my words

A stunning stat line from Ray against the Raptors this afternoon: 11 of 14 from the field, 6 of 6 from the free throw line, 8 3s, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 36 points ... what a jerk!

Meanwhile, Allen Iverson went 10 for 31 in two games this weekend (Back to back Friday and Saturday night, which may have had something to do with the letdown in Utah ... but he was 6 for 18 for his big night back in Denver - what gives? If you can't get up for that game, what can you get up for?), had 4 rebounds, 8 assists, only 1 steal, and 34 points.

Alas, it's a long season and I expect Iverson to pay dividends at some point. At this rate, it will be in April.

It was a tough weekend from the field. Rondo was 1 for 8 in Friday night's matchup against the Cavaliers, and Pierce was 4 for 15 in that game -- due to LeBron's smothering defense. Jeff Green was 4 for 17 from the field last night (0 for 5 from 3-point land), but redeemed himself somewhat by collecting 12 boards.

Tonight, there was some arriving relief from Tony Parker (13 for 22 while scoring 31 points) and Dwight Howard (9 for 12, 24 points). Dwight was also 6 for 7 from the free throw line.

You have to love it when your guards rebound -- Rondo had 6 boards today (to go with 11 assists against the Raptors), Pierce had 6. Pierce was rebounding like crazy to start the season, but his numbers have dropped off as of late. If he's scoring only 18-19 ppg, that's fine -- but the boards, assists, and 3s have to be there for my team to win.

Shawn Marion had 12 pts, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals heading into the 4th quarter of tonight's Heat-Laker game and I was hoping he could perhaps register a 15-10 with one more steal or a block thrown into the mix. Alas, he hasn't done anything else and there are only 2 minutes left. This comes on the heels of an unimpressive 8 point-7 rebound game Friday night where he didn't even play during the 4th quarter. Marion seems to disappear for vast stretches this season.

I was proud of myself for starting Sebastian Telfair on Saturday night. 17 pts, 2 3s, 11 assists ... not a bad outing. As long as Kevin Ollie is out of the picture, Randy Foye is being played at the 2, and Mike Miller is coming off the bench, I expect Telfair to be relevant. I wouldn't expect him to be great from the field, but he will collect assists and steals.

Monta Ellis could be back in a week -- at which point the lineup will be Rondo, Iverson, Parker, Pierce, Green, Jefferson, Howard, Marion, Ellis.
